The
Bode City Council met in regular session Monday January 5, 2026, at 5:30PM in
the council chambers. Council members Fulwider, Hasfjord, McCart, and Tepner
were present. Absent McKenna. Also, present Nate Hosford, who will be our
Water/Wastewater operator until Derek Dugan acquires his license. Mayor Miller called the meeting to order a
motion was made by Tepner, second by Hasfjord to approve the agenda as posted.
All ayes, motion carried. A motion was made by Hasfjord, second by Tepner to
approve the minutes of the December council meeting as published. All ayes,
motion carried.
Derek
Dugan, City Maintenance, informed the council that the flow meter for the city
lagoons had been recalibrated. The meter has been running high; this could be
due to build up possibly from the grouting involved in the sewer project. He
stated McPeak trenching had been contacted and will be correcting one of
the lines at the lagoon in the spring.
Nate
Hosford introduced himself to the council, Nate will keep us in compliance with
the DNR on our water/wastewater reports prior to Derek becoming certified. In
person classes for water/wastewater operators to send Derek to were discussed, Derek will look at in person classes and
attend early spring to become certified.
Mayor Miller appointed Paula Fulwider
as mayor pro-tem; other yearly appointments are as
follows: Brett Legvold with Arends, Lee, Emick & Legvold Offices-City
Attorney; Newspaper-Humboldt Independent, Fire Chief-Mark Spaulding, Health
Officer-Iowa Specialties hospital, Bank-West Iowa Bank (Resolution # 2026-1),
City Clerk-Becky Struthers, City Maintenance-Derek Dugan. Mayor Miller will
serve on the 911 board.
A
motion was made by Fulwider, second by Tepner to donate $300 to Upper Des
Moines Opportunity. All ayes, motion carried.
Mayor
Miller appointed Fulwider and Tepner to be on the hiring/interviews for city
clerk position.
The
next regular meeting is set for February 2, 2026.
